THE PRACTICE OF YOGA
HEALING YOGA FOR CANCER SURVIVORS
In memory of my mother who I lost to breast cancer in 2011.

Yoga allows patients, survivors, caregivers, and those left behind, agency over their healing. Yoga has been shown to boost cancer survivor's well-being while strengthening muscles, building bone, and more to rid the body of toxins amassed during treatment.
In addition to the physical and psychological benefits, the practice helps to alleviate cancer-related depression, anxiety, and insomnia. This thoughtful approach to yoga seeks to empower and support the well-being of anyone impacted by cancer: cancer survivors avoiding reoccurrence, caregivers in need of self-care, and those healing from loss.
These modified yoga classes follow classic elements of yoga: Asana (postures), Pranayama (breathwork), Pratyahara (internalization of the senses), Dharana (concentration of the mind), Dyana (meditation).

Clearance is highly advised by your medical doctor to perform physical activity prior to attending any class. This class will assist in modifications appropriate for all levels and stages of treatment or recovery.
As a clinical exercise physiologist, I create wellness programs based on the referring physician's directives. Yoga has become one of the most prescribed practices for a healthy lymphatic system and a long-term lifestyle choice for balanced health. I am a licensed medical massage therapist with specialized training in lymphatic drainage, reflexology, and acupressure. My training continues with Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center as I am currently enrolled in the integrative medicine program to offer yoga as therapy to oncology care and long-term care survivors of cancer. I am honored to teach yoga and have the opportunity to pass on to others the joy and serenity that I have discovered in my own practice.
